IT hasn’t been a good season for Rangers and it is one that everyone at Ibrox will be glad to see the back of.

But there are still four games left and Rangers need to put all of their efforts into getting second place in the Premiership now.

It has been a disappointing campaign but getting second and getting European football is important over the next few weeks. It would be a minor success, but it has to happen.

Rangers have got a difficult run-in this season but I don’t see why they can’t hold off Aberdeen and Hibernian.

The win over Hearts on Sunday was massive for the team, especially after everything that happened after the Old Firm game.

I thought they played well. James Tavernier is starting to look like a leader, Jason Holt Holt and Graham Dorrans did well in the middle of the park and, up front, Daniel Candeias and Jamie Murphy were a threat and Jason Cummings got a goal on his return to the starting line-up.

There are good players in that squad and they need to show that, and show their mentality, over the coming weeks.

If they can do that then I think second place is certainly achievable. It isn’t great, but it would at least salvage something from a difficult campaign.
