SEAN GOSS reckons the lure of playing under Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard will convince players to move to Ibrox this summer.

But the midfielder admits his own future with Rangers is uncertain as he gets set to return south of the border at the end of the campaign.

Gerrard wasn’t in the stands to see the Light Blues clinch a 1-0 win over Kilmarnock on Saturday as they got back on track in the Premiership.

Goss stepped off the bench to set up David Bates as the Hamburg-bound defender netted his first goal for Rangers.

Jimmy Nicholl will take charge of the final two matches of the season and Goss is eager to show what he can do as Gerrard watches on from afar after agreeing a four-year deal at Ibrox.

He said: “I just want to try and get back into the team for the games on Tuesday and Sunday.

“They are two tough games. After that I will see what situation I am in.

“The prospect of Steven Gerrard being here is massive. He was an amazing player and someone I looked up to.

“Everyone is going to be interested in playing for him. I think playing under him would excite anyone.

“His experiences can only help us. But, I will think about that when the times comes.

“I definitely think there will be plenty of interest from players down south.

“All you have to do is look at his career. He will be able to back that up with his experiences and help the players on the park week in, week out.

“The reaction all over the country to him being announced is huge. It is great for the club to get someone like that in.”

Goss made an immediate impression at Ibrox when he moved from Queens Park Rangers during the January transfer window.

But he has struggled for match action in recent weeks and had to watch on as Graeme Murty’s side lost 5-0 at Parkhead last weekend.

The midfielder will head back to Loftus Road after the matches with Aberdeen and Hibernian and is determined to end on a high note this term.

Goss said: “I am just concentrating on playing football and see what happens at the end of the season. I still have time left on my QPR contract after this summer.

“I have loved my time up here. That’s why I have been so gutted about being out of the team.

“I want to enjoy the last week and hopefully play in both games. I want to get us where we want to be.

“It is a pleasure playing at Ibrox and it will be a great experience playing in front of packed crowds at Aberdeen and Hibs as well.

“It is a big chance for everyone to show the new manager what they can do.

“Everyone wants to impress and most important we want to finish second and guarantee European football for next year.”

Goss made his first appearance since coming off the bench against Dundee last month as he helped Rangers to a crucial win over Killie.

And the 22-year-old admits it has been a difficult few weeks as he lost his place in Murty’s Ibrox plans.

He said: “It has been frustrating not being in the team. You have to be patient and wait for a chance. I have come on and hopefully showed again what I can do.

“We needed a bit of freshen up in the team and a few of us had to miss out.

“It was tough watching the two Old Firm games from the bench. Whether you are in the team or not then it is hard to take.

“I went to see the manager. We are a close group and the door was always open.

“I did go to see him but I won’t go into what was said.”
