It will be interesting to see what impact Steven Gerrard has on the Rangers players from the current squad that he is keeping around the club, and none more so than Josh Windass.

When you look at the impact that Brendan Rodgers had at Celtic, he only brought in two signings in the first summer window of any note, but he managed to completely change the full mentality of the team, the individuals, the fans and the club.

There’s no reason why Steven can’t do the same. He will have told the players that they are starting from a clean slate.

I think Windass is fantastic. Different class. He’s got everything you need to play at the top level. He has the physical attributes and the speed to probably play in the English Premier League.

Probably the one thing he needs though is a run of consistent games in order to kick on a bit. If he has been in training by himself at Auchenhowie as has been rumoured, then that’s brilliant. It shows that he has the hunger and desire to do better.

That is the attitude that will be needed if he is to get the best from himself.
