I had a brilliant day playing in the Ray Wilkins Memorial Cup game on Saturday and there was a great turnout from Rangers fans and Chelsea fans.

Ray’s family were there and there was a great atmosphere. It was a really good day and, on a personal level, a memorable one for me to share a pitch with some real legends.

When you retire from playing or you are out of the game, everyone misses that camaraderie and spirit you get in a dressing room.

We spent time at the hotel, we met a lot of the fans and it was nice to spend a bit of time with them, chat to them and sign autographs and get pictures taken.

I had the likes of Andy Goram, Charlie Miller, Nigel Spackman and Michael Mols alongside me so there was a list of real top quality and successful players.

When I was young and going to Ibrox, these were the kind of guys that I was watching.

So it was brilliant to be on the same pitch as them, and some of the Chelsea boys like Dave Beasant, Kerry Dixon and Jody Morris.

It was nice to pull the boots on again and get back on the pitch and credit to the guys that organised the match and at Sutton United.

You miss it when you don’t play so it was a fantastic experience for me and one that I really enjoyed.

Most importantly, it was to remember a great man and a great footballer in Ray Wilkins and his family are in the thoughts of everyone that was involved.
