THE list of options is lengthy for Pedro Caixinha. One stands out above the rest for Charlie Miller, though.

The Rangers boss has just three weeks to prepare his side for the new domestic campaign and there is plenty to ponder before the trip to Fir Park.

It is in midfield where Caixinha has the biggest problems, albeit welcome ones, to solve. His latest recruit looks like being one of the first names on the team sheet.

The capture of Graham Dorrans may have come too late to salvage Rangers’ Europa League dreams but nine-in-a-row hero Miller reckons the 30-year-old will prove to be a perfect fit in the Premiership.

He said: “I think he will be a very good addition to the squad and the team.

“We know what Alves and Jack will bring to the side but the rest of the boys we don’t know a lot about. Alves, Jack and Dorrans will make a big difference and improve the team.

“It has been a frustrating start obviously but Dorrans is a good football player and I am glad he is up the road. He wants to play for Rangers and he should be a good signing.

“He will definitely be one of the first names on the team sheet so hopefully he can hit the ground running and help the boys out.

“The manager has a lot of players that can play in central midfield so that has to be sorted out. You can’t have all of them standing on each other’s toes in there.

“Last season they tried to play but there wasn’t any pace and there was nobody to beat players. There wasn’t enough creativity and it was always pass, pass, pass.

“This season, it looks like Pedro will go 4-3-3 as well and every manager will have his own ideas on how to set the side up. He certainly has plenty of options there, though.”

The move for Dorrans was a long time in the making but Rangers’ patience should pay off after the Scotland international finally clinched his switch from Norwich last week.

He has agreed a three-year deal as Caixinha took his summer signing tally to nine just days after the shock Euro exit at the hands of Progres Niederkorn.

Dorrans has realised a lifelong ambition by signing on the dotted line at Ibrox and Miller is confident he can quickly get up to speed and settle into life in Light Blue.

He said: “It is good to have a Rangers boy in there that knows what the club is all about and knows what the expectations are. I think he will be a good signing.

“Playing for Rangers is different to playing for Norwich or West Brom, it is a more demanding crowd and the expectancy levels are second to none.

“That is what the club is about and Rangers teams can’t accept getting beat. Hopefully we can have a good start to the season and Dorrans will want to play a big part in that.

“He is a quality player and it is up to him now to go and express himself and show the fans what a good player he is and what he can do for Rangers. Hopefully he does well.

“Rangers have to do better than they did in Luxembourg and having a player like Dorrans in there will help.

“He has got a lot of football left in him so hopefully he can give a good account of himself and help Rangers have a good season.”
