JASON Cummings has revealed he is hoping to make his move to Rangers a permanent one after agreeing a loan from Nottingham Forest until the end of the season.

The former Hibernian striker, who moved to English Championship club Forest in the summer, has returned to Scotland to join the Ladbrokes Premiership club for the remainder of the 2017/18 campaign.

However, the Ibrox club has the option to keep the player long-term basis after that if he does well and the 22-year-old has admitted that prospect interests him greatly.

“I’m absolutely delighted to come to such a massive club,” Cummings told Rangers TV. “Once I knew they were interested, there was no question in my mind that I wanted to sign for them.

“My situation down south meant that I wasn’t going to play as much, so I was just wanting to get out there, get game time and get back to enjoying football again.”

Asked if the prospect of joining Rangers permanently was one which interested him, he said: “Definitely. It’s such a massive club and it’s a privilege to be here.

“I cannot wait (to make his debut at Ibrox) and I wish it was today. I can’t wait to meet all the boys, get training, get out there at Ibrox and get back to enjoying football again.”

Cummings is the fourth new player to join the Ibrox club in the January transfer window – Declan John signed from Cardiff City while Sean Goss of Queens Park Rangers and Jamie Murphy of Brighton both arrived on loan last week.

Cummings could be joined at Rangers this week by Hamilton midfielder Greg Docherty – but only if the Ibrox club increase their bid for him after having an initial offer, believed to be in the region of £300,000, turned down yesterday. The New Douglas Park club value the player at around £600,000.

Rangers could also agree a temporary deal with Martin, the Norwich City and Scotland centre half who has not been featuring at Carrow Road this season, later today.

The 32-year-old, who last played a first team game back in August, knows Murty, who worked as a youth coach at Norwich before moving to Rangers, and is keen on the move to the Premiership club.

Norwich and Rangers have agreed terms and the player is expected to undergo a medical in Glasgow today and complete the temporary switch.

Meanwhile, Steve Clarke, the Kilmarnock manager, revealed the Rugby Park club had little difficulty turning down the offer, believed to be in the region of £350,000, which Rangers tabled for Jordan Jones.

The 23-year-old winger, who made his debut for Northern Ireland when he came on in the first leg of his adopted homeland’s Russia 2018 play-off match against Switzerland at Windsor Park in November, only has 18 months of his contract remaining.

Speaking as he collected the Ladbrokes Premiership Manager of the Month award for December, Clarke said: "We didn't even have to discuss it too much - it was just a straight no. I have to say I thought the offer from Rangers was a long, long way short of the mark.

"If you look at Kilmarnock historically, if the price is right for the club and the deal is right for the player, then Kilmarnock football club is not a club that would stand in somebody's way and block their way."
