RANGERS have signed Norwich City and Scotland centre-back Russell Martin on loan.

The 32-year-old has agreed a deal to join the Ibrox club until the end of the season after falling out of favour at Carrow Road.

He becomes the club's fourth signing of the January transfer window, following the arrivals of QPR midfielder Sean Goss, Brighton winger Jamie Murphy and Nottingham Forest striker Jason Cummings.

"At this stage in my career to come here, it really excites me," Martin told Rangers TV.

"It's a challenge as well. Huge football club.

"It was the one that I really wanted to happen. There was other offers from the Championship in England so I'm really pleased to get it done."

Martin, a 29-time Scotland internationalist, last made an appearance for the Canaries in August and has made just five league outings this season.

The defender has been with the club since November 2009, making 125 English Premier League appearances in the process and a further 144 in the second tier.
