GRAEME MURTY hopes Lee Wallace won’t be out of action too much longer after going under the knife to cure a hernia problem.

The Rangers captain hasn’t played since September and had to have surgery on a groin injury he sustained against Partick Thistle.

Wallace wasn’t part of the Light Blues squad that travelled to the United States for the Florida Cup and he will again be absent when the Gers return to action against Fraserburgh tomorrow afternoon.

Murty said: “Lee has had a bilateral hernia operation but he is in a really good state because he knew there was something niggling away and he has had it fully repaired.

“He is happy with how he is feeling and hopefully we can advance him on and he won’t be too much longer.

“I expect him back in line with the protocol but I don’t want to put a date on it. I have been that player that has seen a date put in the paper by his manager and you try and chase it.

“He will be back when he is back but we will make sure that the physio lets us know when he is due to be training.”
