STEVEN Gerrard’s Rangers will face cross-city rivals Celtic for the first time on 1 September at Celtic Park as the 2018/19 fixtures were released on Friday.

The Liverpool legend began work at Auchenhowie this week as he looks to put an end to the domestic domination of Brendan Rodgers’ double Treble winners.

The two Glasgow giants will then face off again on 29 December at Ibrox before the final clash before the split on 30 March at Parkhead.

Celtic will begin their title defence by lifting the league flag against newly promoted Livingston on the opening day of Saturday 4 August.

Also on the opening day, Hamilton Accies host Hearts, Motherwell travel to Hibs, Kilmarnock welcome St Johnstone to Rugby Park and Dundee visit St Mirren.

On Sunday 5 August there is a huge clash between Aberdeen and Rangers at Pittodrie, last season's second and third placed sides.

The first Edinburgh Derby of the campaign will take place on 31 October at Tynecastle before further clashes on 29 December and 6 April.

In the Championship, relegated Partick Thistle and Ross County begin their promotion bids against Ayr United and Alloa respectively, while Dundee United host Dunfermline.

Montrose are back in League One for the first time in more than 20 years and start with a big derby match against local rivals Arbroath at Links Park.

Peterhead, who narrowly missed out on promotion in 2017/18, kick off their League Two campaign at home to relegated Queen’s Park.

A winter break will take place from 30 December-19 January, while post-split fixtures are set for April 20, April 27, May 4, May 11 and May 18/19.
