Rovers bid to stay up

SCOTT CHAPLAIN hopes Albion Rovers' play-off experience will help see them over the line as they bid to retain their Irn-Bru Second Division status.

The Coatbridge side earned their place in Scotland's third tier via the play-offs 12 months ago, but fell at the final hurdle last weekend as they were condemned to a ninth-place league finish.

Rovers head to Elgin for the first leg of their semi-final tonight and Chaplain is aiming for more play-off joy.

He said: "We know the situation we are in and we know what it takes to win after last year.

"That experience last year will stand us in good stead this year hopefully.

"Of course, it is different circumstances because last year we were looking for promotion and now we are looking to avoid relegation but we still know what it takes to do well in the play-offs."
