GLASGOW WARRIORS will meet French side Clermont Auvergne in their first pre-season friendly.
Head coach Gregor Townsend will take his Guinness PRO12 champions to France for a week-long training camp before meeting European Champions Cup runners-up Clermont on Friday, August 14, with an 8pm kick-off.
The Warriors will then fly to Nova Scotia on Tuesday, August 25, ahead of their second match against Canada in Halifax on Saturday, August 29 (kick-off 3pm local time).
“Clermont will provide the ideal test for us ahead of the new season,” said Townsend.
"They have performed consistently well at the highest level of European rugby over a number of years and it'll be a good challenge for our players.
“We’re also really looking forward to travelling to Nova Scotia to play Canada. It’s an excellent opportunity to play a top-class international side, while also promoting the Glasgow Warriors brand internationally and giving our supporters in Canada the chance to support the team.”
In between the two matches, Warriors will be based in Glasgow for a week of training, including an open session at Scotstoun on Friday, August 21. They fly to Canada the following Tuesday.
