GLASGOW Warriors unveiled their kit for the coming season yesterday - and also announced a new signing they are sure will be every bit as eye-catching.

Junior Bulumakau, who scored a try from the halfway line in last week’s defeat by Clermont in France, has agreed a one-year deal with the Warriors after impressing while on trial.

The winger, who was born in Fiji but moved here at the age of ten, has been an infantryman in the Royal Regiment of Scotland since 2010 and will retain his connection with the army.

A member of the same school team in Edinburgh as Scotland winger Dougie Fife, Bulumakau has played for Heriot’s at club level, and was also named the army’s man of the match in their win over the Royal Navy at Twickenham in May.

“It’s a huge honour to sign for the Guinness PRO12 champions and I’m really happy to be here,” Bulumakau said yesterday.

“Opportunities like this only come along once and you need to grab them. I enjoyed playing my first game for the club on Friday and I can't wait to run out at Scotstoun.”

With much of his squad absent on World Cup duty, head coach Gregor Townsend could name Bulumakau in a team for a competitive fixture sooner rather than later. “Junior will add further competition for places in our back three and we're looking forward to seeing him challenge for a starting place over the next few weeks,” he said.

The new home shirt includes an image of the Finnieston Crane, while the alternate strip has the design of the Riverside Museum.
