Glasgow Warriors have secured Sean Lamont for next season after he signed a new one-year deal with the club.

Lamont has 104 caps for Scotland and is close to becoming a centurion at Glasgow Warriors, having played 98 times for the club over two spells.

The 35-year-old winger left Glasgow in 2005 before returning in 2012 and has scored 27 tries.

Speaking to glasgowwarriors.org, Lamont said: “I’m delighted to sign for another year at the Warriors.

“I feel I've still got more to give and I'm enjoying being part of a winning team.

“I want to keep on playing and I’m glad I get to extend my time at a club which I really enjoy representing."

Glasgow Warriors head coach Gregor Townsend added: “Sean is a great role model of how to look after yourself physically and play at a consistently high level throughout a season.

“He’s always said he’d like to keep on playing which is great, as the desire to keep improving and enthusiasm to play the game are vital components of performing well.

“He’s shown that his motivation levels are just as high as ever and his rugby ability is clear for all to see.

“His influence around the group is a strong one as other players look up to him for what he’s achieved in the game and what he’s still delivering on the pitch.

"We’re delighted to be able to have him with us for another season."
