SCOTTISH RUGBY have revealed the new national team kit for the 2016/17 sesason.

The traditional navy home kit has been influenced by the design from the 2015 Rugby World Cup in England, when the Scots reached the quarter-finals.

It features a new white stripe across the shoulders as well as a tartan pattern embossed on the back.

The alternate kit has paid tribute to those of the late 1990s with its white and navy stripe design.

Both are available online on the Scottish Rugby website and can be purchased at the Murrayfield store from Friday onwards.

They will first be worn in a competitive match when Scotland face Australia in the first Autumn Test in November, before further matches against Argentina and Georgia.

Scotland and Edinburgh lock Grant Gilchrist said: “It looks like a classic Scotland shirt and yet has lots of subtle little features which make it feel pretty unique.

"I’m sure the fans will like them as both the home and alternate versions look really good.”

Lisa Martin, captain of Scotland Women, said: “I think the design is awesome and reminds me of one of the first Scotland shirts my parents bought me when I was growing up."
