SCOTLAND international back-rower Adam Ashe has signed a new two-year deal with Glasgow Warriors.

The 23-year-old extended his contract until May 2019 on Wednesday, following in the footsteps of teammates Stuart Hogg, Henry Pyrgos and Greg Peterson in committing his future to the Scotstoun club.

Ashe has racked up 29 appearances for the Pro12 outfit but is yet to feature this season after only returning from injury last weekend with BT Premiership side Ayr.

The 6ft 4in back row forward, capable of playing as a flanker or number eight, made his Scotland debut in 2014 and has been capped six times by his country.

“It’s a brilliant feeling to extend my contract and stay on with the club," he told glasgowwarriors.org.

“Glasgow Warriors is a fantastic environment and I’m surrounded by great players, great coaches and great fans so it was an easy decision for me to make.

“As a club it is really taking off, we’ve just had two good wins in Europe and it’s exciting to be a part of something that is moving in the right direction.”

Warriors head coach Gregor Townsend added: “Adam has become an important member of our squad, after coming through our academy system.

“He has a really good attitude and has worked hard to come back from his injuries fitter than ever and we’re all excited about seeing him back on the pitch in a Glasgow shirt soon.”
