WELSH rugby gained a measure of revenge for Scotland's Six Nations victory on Saturday when the Ospreys inflicted a setback to Glasgow Warrior's Guinness PRO12 hopes at the Liberty Stadium in Swansea.

Despite trailing by one point midway through the second half, it was the Ospreys who finished strongest to complete a 26-15 bonus-point victory. They climb to second in the table while Glasgow remain in sixth.

While both sides came into the match on the back of defeats last weekend, and it was the Welsh hosts who raced into an early lead through Keelan Giles’ 12th try of the campaign and a Josh Matavesi effort.

Glasgow responded with a couple of fine tries of their own - Corey Flynn plunging over from close range and then Peter Murchie touching down after a mazy run from the touchline, to edge 15-14 in front, but their Welsh opponents had other ideas as Tyler Ardron and Kieron Fonotia completed impressive team moves to give Ospreys a first seasonal double over their Scottish opponents since the 2008-09 campaign.

Next up for the Warriors is another meeting with Welsh opposition, the Dragons, on Saturday but Aussie centre Sam Johnson - who is nearing a return from injury - said that that a place in the top four wasn't beyond them just yet. Glasgow, of course, also have Europe to look forward to, with their Champions Cup quarter final to come against the Saracens in early April, by which time their full compliment of international stars should be available.

"Look we are going to ahve a it of work to do for the top four now but we still have to back ourselves," said Johnson. "It is still February, and there is still a lot of rugby to be played. We will review this game on Monday, then look forward to facing the Dragons. I am hoping to be available for the Connacht game, I will look to do some running next week. Soon everyone will be back, a full compliment of the squad looking to play their part in the last quarter of the season."
