ADAM ASHE spent the start of the week still feeling the pains and strains picked up in a bruising weekend.

And the Glasgow Warriors ace loved every second of it.

The 21-year-old has been absent for the last three months following a neck injury and has been forced to watch on from the sidelines as he misses out on both club and country pursuits.

He finally made his return for the Scotstoun club in last Saturday's 22-10 defeat to Munster in Cork.

Despite the result, Ashe has expressed his joy at finally getting back to what he does best.

"I'm a bit sore from the weekend but I'm in a good place," he said.

"It's not a familiar feeling to be stiff and sore. It's good to be back out there and be back at work.

"I had a neck injury which was assessed pretty closely and it needed a bit longer to heal.

"It can be frustrating. I had a couple of setbacks within the space of a couple of weeks. But that's part of the job. These things happen and you have to get on with it.

"The game in Cork was an interesting one to play in. It was one of the fastest games I've ever played in so my lungs were gone. It took me about 30 minutes to get my second wind.

"I enjoyed being back out there, though. It's just a shame we couldn't get the result, although personally I got a lot out of it."

While the run out in Ireland was an enjoyable experience for Ashe, this Friday's clash with Zebre offers up an even more salivating prospect.

The Italians - who are currently bottom of the GUINNESS PRO12 as Glasgow sit second top - come to Scotstoun on Friday night to play in front of a massive home crowd.

And the chance of running out to a Scotstoun roar has got Ashe all shook up.

He said: "This weekend should be a big game and I'm looking forward to being back at Scotstoun in front of the home fans. It's been a while.

"We need to win and hopefully put in a good performance both personally and for the team."

Tickets for the game, which kicks off at 7.35pm, are still available. Log on to www.GlasgowWarriors.org for more details.
