ONLY 500 people were there to see Adam Ashe the last time he ran out at Murrayfield, but that was enough to spark his ambition to play for Scotland one day.

The Glasgow forward has not played at the stadium since he was part of Stirling County's squad which won the National Youth Cup there in 2009.

But there will be a much larger crowd inside the Edinburgh ground tonight as the No.8 picks up his second cap for Vern Cotter's side.

While the autumn Test against Argentina is not a sell-out, it is on course to break the 2001 record of 36,634 for a match between the teams.

Still only 21, Ashe was just a promising teenager when he enjoyed his first glimpse of the sport's Scottish headquarters.

A 34-13 win over Currie Colts proved to be his first step on the road to a full international career.

Asked to divulge his Murrayfield record, the Warriors man admitted: "I don't think I've played there with Glasgow. The last time I played there was five years ago in an Under-18s cup final for Stirling County.

"I really enjoyed it and we got a fantastic win. Hopefully we can get the same on Saturday.

"I would imagine the crowd will be a bit bigger. I think there were about 500 there that day.

"But I'm really looking forward to seeing the place packed out for the Argentina match.

"That was always my dream back in those days with County.

"It's fantastic to be in the position to do it now.

"When I was growing up, having the chance to play at Murrayfield when I was only a teenager was always a great driver towards making sure I got back here one day."

ASHE is one of the 10 Glasgow men chosen to start against the Pumas after the Scotstoun side's superb start to the season in the Guinness Pro12 and in Europe.

But it will be a testing afternoon for Ashe and his back-row colleagues Rob Harley - who is also on Gregor Townsend's books at Scotstoun - and New Zealand-born Blair Cowan, who plays for London Irish.

With a total of only 11 caps between them, the trio do not have much experience to fall back on.

But Ashe is confident. He said: "It's brilliant to see a lot of the Glasgow boys here. It obviously helps that we are playing week in, week out with these guys.

"We know how each other plays and that is always a bonus.

"I will have Rob beside me in the back row, which is good as I've played with him a lot this season.

"Blair is in there too, but I haven't played too much with him so far.

"But from what I have seen in training, though, he is a really good player.

"Blair has a fantastic skill set and is a pretty physical No.7.

"I'm looking forward to linking up with those two guys at Murrayfield."
