MARK BENNETT has put his faith in Glasgow's cap crusaders to be heroes for Scotland against Italy.

A large contingent of Warriors made up the squad for the first two fixtures in the RBS Six Nations tournament against France and Wales, with Adam Ashe and Alex Allan having also been called up this week.

Despite two tries from Scotstoun stars Stuart Hogg and Jon Welsh against the Welsh, Vern Cotter's team - which featured seven Scotstoun players in his starting XV - were unable to halt their losing streak in the competition to keep them tied bottom of the table with the Italians.

The Azurri are the opponents tomorrow at BT Murrayfield in what is a must-win match for the Scots.

And Glasgow centre Bennett has belief in his club mates to carry on from their previous prominent displays in dark blue to help Scotland finally get off the mark.

He said: "You are coming in with confidence from Glasgow. A lot of the guys are obviously playing for the one club side which is great. Winning together, that's what you want to be doing.

"Unfortunately, we didn't quite get there against Wales but the confidence is still there for everyone.

"I think the squad played really well against Wales, and not just the Glasgow boys. It was a great performance from everyone involved.

"There were positives for us to take from it, but there are negatives which stopped us winning the game. I think we need to be more accurate in the finish zone and execute better.

"We had opportunities and we didn't take them and I think that is the main thing."

One man who Bennett singled out for praise was club mate Hogg.

The 22-year-old has emerged as one of the brightest talents in the Scottish game, a fact that was typified by a storming try against the Welsh last time out.

Bennett said: "Hoggy is hitting some great form. I wouldn't have liked to have been the one trying to catch him for his try against Wales. He's got some pace on him and he took it really well.

"It's now about keeping things going both domestically and with Scotland. A lot of that is about confidence. We've got solid foundations, it's just a case of pushing on and keep going."

Turning his focus to the Italians, the 22-year-old Cumnock native added: "Every game is massive now. There's no point dwelling on things. The first two games of the Six Nations have brought positives for us. We now need to work hard to make sure we get that result against Italy."
