Former Scotland football manager Craig Brown met the Glasgow Warriors players and coaches at Scotstoun today ahead of Friday night's crucial GUINNESS PRO12 match with Cardiff Blues.

The 74-year-old met the Warriors squad ahead of training for the big game and admitted he was so impressed with what he has seen during his day with the GUINNESS PRO12 leaders.

He said: "The atmosphere at Scotstoun is terrific and I've really enjoyed my day.

"I've been at many clubs and I've dealt with many teams and you can see everyone at Glasgow Warriors are pulling in the same direction.

"It's a terrific achievement for them to be at the top of the league and the environment is inspiring.

"They have a very good stadium - it's a big bonus for them to be able to train and play at the same location and the human environment is the most important and the players have made me feel very welcome."

The crowds at Scotstoun are now regularly exceeding 6,000 and Brown says it's great that they are proving popular in a city dominated by football.

"When you think about the football teams in Glasgow and the support they have it's very difficult for a rugby team to compete, but I know a lot of people come and see the Warriors and their attendances are good.

"I look at some of the attendances in the SPFL and they are less than the attendances here at Scotstoun when the Warriors play, so credit to them for attracting the fans.

"The quality of the rugby that is played and the enthusiasm of the team is definitely deserving of the attendances they're getting.

"The interest in rugby is enhanced because of their presence in Glasgow and I genuinely I hope that they win the GUINNESS PRO12 this season."
