CHRIS FUSARO attributes Glasgow Warriors' stunning start to the Guinness Pro12 to the hard graft put in during pre-season.

Gregor Townsend's players continued their hot streak of form last Friday night with a stonking 39-21 triumph over then-unbeaten Connnacht in front of a packed-out Scotstoun stadium.

A strong finish to that game saw Warriors romp to victory after Connacht had attempted to pin back the Scots on three occasions in the earlier stages.

And Scotland international Fusaro reckons the blood, sweat and tears put in during the summer months is paying off for a Warriors who seem to be going from strength to strength with each passing game.

Despite several players being away on international duty - including at the Commonwealth Games - or out injured, Townsend's Warriors have still managed to build up a rock steady core of fitness for this Pro12 campaign.

Fusaro said: "I think it's been a brilliant start so far. Four wins from four now including two bonus points, especially the other week against Dragons when we went down to 14 men, it was great character shown by the boys, very courageous.

"It was testament to all the hard work we did in pre-season. We're starting to put teams away in the last 20 minutes of games. We're feeling fit and strong. So it's been good."

He added: "Connacht have come on a lot since last season. They were top of the league unbeaten, so we didn't really know what to expect.

"They came here and they were very physical and very well-drilled team so we had to put nearly 40 points by them, it was great work from the boys."

The next objective is to make it five wins from five when Glasgow travel to Italy at the weekend for Sunday's fixture at Benetton Treviso.

Warriors will go into the encounter as massive favourites with them sitting joint-top of the table with Ospreys, while their hosts prop up the standings as a result of losing every game they've played so far.

However, Fusaro reckons the Scotstoun side can take nothing for granted against Treviso, even if their points difference is -103 after just four games.

The 25-year-old told Glasgow Warriors TV: "I think again it's going to be a very tough encounter.

"To get another win on the road would be fantastic, especially going to Ulster the week later.

"The Italians are always very big and physical, it's one we will be taking very seriously."
