RYAN GRANT believes the confidence Glasgow picked up from defeating Northampton 27-20 in their final Heineken Cup tie can help bolster Scotland morale ahead of the RBS Six Nations campaign.

The Scots are currently in a training camp at Scotstoun with interim head coach Scott Johnson in charge for the first time as they crank up their preparations for Calcutta Cup opponents England on Saturday, February 2, at Twickenham. A miserable Autumn Test Series saw Scotland lose all three of their Tests, culminating in an unacceptable defeat at the hands of Tonga that led to head coach Andy Robinson's resignation.

Grant said: "The Glasgow boys have gone into the Scotland camp on a real high, with confidence and self-belief really strong right now.

"There had been a lot of frustration that after five matches of the Heineken Cup campaign we had nothing to show for our efforts.

"We knew that was simply unacceptable and we also knew that we had to get the win to restore some pride.

"But I think the manner in which we got that win was huge and we have to make sure that our enthusiasm and confidence is infectious throughout the Scotland squad.

"But I don't see any reason why we can't travel south to face England with anythign but high hopes. The great thing is that there are 19 Glasgow boys in the squad and a good few former Warriors and that is a plus.

"With the training camp having been in Scotstoun this week it has almost been like a continuation of the Glasgow set-up, so it has been great."

Grant has been a major Scot-land success story since starring in the summer tour of Australasia last year and now has his eyes fixed on his first Six Nations.

He added: "The satisfaction we took from beating Northampton was huge. They were very mouthy and all through the game we could hear them spouting off about getting the bonus point win they needed.

"But it didn't pan out that way so they must have been choking on their own words.

"But that is the type of win that will give the English something to think about ahead of Twickenham. Hopefully we can go south and give them even more to moan about."
