Tyrone Holmes was born in South Africa but he sees the chance to line up against the Springboks for Scotland as a dream come true.
His father Stephen emigrated from Peebles before he was born but the Glasgow Warriors flanker says it was the blue of Scotland and not the green of South Africa he always dreamed of playing in.
Holmes was called up to Vern Cotter's squad at the weekend and is almost certain to be on the 23-man team-sheet for Saturday's Test in Port Elizabeth.
The 28-year-old said: "I used to joke with my old man about playing for Scotland. It has always been the ambition, part of the plan, something I've been striving towards."
United States stand-off Folau Niua has left Glasgow Warriors after a brief spell in Scotland.
