PETER HORNE has warned Glasgow that they can't afford to take the foot off the gas when they head to the Stadio Monigo on Friday night to face teak-tough Italian side Treviso.

Warriors climbed into second spot in the RaboDirect Pro12 last weekend thanks to a barnstorming 37-34 victory over Edinburgh that also secured residency of the 1872 Cup for another season in the Scotstoun trophy cabinet.

All of which means that if Gregor Townsend's troops secure two victories, garnered by bonus points, in their final brace of games against the back- marking Italian duo of Treviso and Zebre they will secure a first ever home play-off semi.

But Horne is wary of the Italian threat and said: "We have put ourselves in a very strong position having gone on a six-game winning run and moving into second spot with just the two games left to play.

"However, there is no way we can afford to take the threat of Treviso lightly.

"They may have taken a sore one off Leinster but they have also beaten both the Dragons and Edinburgh in recent weeks. On their patch they are a really difficult team to get the better of and one who always make things very physical.

"To have hit second spot with just two games left to play and let it slip would be unthinkable."

Although the versatile back didn't feature in the derby dust-up with Edinburgh, Horne has notched two substitute appearances and a start in the last four games and will be in the frame for a return to the fray in Italy in three days' time.

But the 24 year-old admits that Warriors will have to be significantly more sound defensively against Treviso if they want to make it seven wins on the bounce.

Horne said: "We have got to be very pleased that we scored five tries against Edinburgh but at the same time to ship four is just not acceptable.

"I think there possibly was an element of thinking the job was done and that maybe we did relax but it has to be an 80- minute performance on Friday at the Stadio Monigo.

"But you also have to take each game on its merits and with the 1872 Cup at stake and the Edinburgh fixture the highlight of the season it is a game that is different to any other."

Edinburgh now host third- placed Munster on Saturday before travelling to table- toppers Leinster.

"Edinburgh could have a big say in how things pan out for us," said Horne.

"But we must focus solely on what we do and that means taking it one game at a time."
