DUNCAN WEIR says a win against Treviso on Sunday afternoon can be Glasgow Warriors' passport to the high life in Europe.

The Scotstoun club are joint top of the Guinness Pro12 table with four wins from four - the latest coming last Friday in a 39-21 triumph over Connacht.

Warriors now head to Italy, hoping to make it a fantastic five before another away tie at Ulster takes them up to their first match in the European Rugby Champions Cup against Aviva Premiership cracks Bath.

Weir has targeted a win in both matches to send them surging into continental action with an air of self-belief.

The Glasgow fly-half said: "Treviso is a tough place to go and play. They have a good home record and always do well at home in Europe as well.

"It's quite a hostile environment and although the weather is better than Scotland their track restricts an expansive style of play.

"They have made changes over the summer so there will be a lot of new combinations. It's up to us to match that and play with confidence after our recent wins.

"Now that we've come away with four victories, it's about keeping that momentum going. Although we're not firing on all cylinders, we are learning all the time.

"The aim is to get two good wins before our big European game against Bath at Scotstoun in a few weeks time."

Even though Warriors are undefeated, Gregor Townsend has called for more from his side as they look to go one better than last season's Pro12 runners-up place.

In the opening match of the season against Leinster, the Glasgow head coach was disappointed with a second-half slump against the Irish, while defensively his men allowed Connacht opportunities last week.

Weir accepts the side is not yet in full flow despite their lofty position in the league. But he has taken encouragement from their ability to carry on regardless, a trait he believes will bode well for their title push.

He said: "After being involved in the first two pre-season games, picking up a knock and being out of the first home match against Leinster was frustrating. We managed to win that match, though, and have carried on the momentum.

"I wouldn't say the victories have come after playing nice rugby, as we've had to dig deep and grind out wins.

"To not play to your potential but still grind out results is a really good quality to have, as it means we can always rely on the backbone of the squad to push us through."
