Warriors prop Jon Welsh today warned Glasgow will have to be at the top of their game to bring back the points from their meeting with Newport Gwent Dragons on Saturday.

Gregor Townsend's side have made a storming start to their Guinness Pro12 campaign with two wins on the spin against Leinster and Cardiff Blues.

And Glasgow-born fans' favourite Welsh is hoping his team-mates maintain the feelgood factor by going for three-in-a-row this weekend. But it will be another depressing occasion for Welsh, who is still fighting back from surgery on a shoulder injury.

He said: "It's frustrating being out injured at the moment, but I'm fighting hard to get back to full fitness as soon as possible.

"The team have had a great start to the season with two victories and we have another big match against the Dragons on Saturday.

"We lost twice to them last season, which was frustrating, so hopefully we can learn from our mistakes and put things right at the weekend."

Welsh was speaking as the Warriors put their considerable muscle behind the second-year launch of Game On Scotland at the Emirates Arena in Glasgow.

The Game On Scotland initiative works with 16-19 year olds across the country who are currently not in education, employment or training.

And the idea is to encourage them to follow a progressive sporting pathway.

Yesterday, Welsh and other members of the Warriors were delighted to play their part in promoting the scheme at the Chris Hoy Velodrome in the city's east end in tandem with Edinburgh Rugby.

Around 30 youngsters took part in a cycling induction at the Emirates, and that was followed by a judo lession delivered by David Millar from Active Judo.

Glasgow Warriors are keen supporters of the scheme and Welsh hopes as many as possible will pursue a sporting route. He said: "It was great to head along to the Velodrome and see what Game On is all about.

"It's brilliant for these guys who are not in education, employment and training to get as much experience as they can, especially in all these different activities including Judo and Track Cycling.

"The fact that Warriors are so closely linked to these projects helps spread the brand and hopefully it encourages the kids to take an interest in our club."

Meanwhile, former Warriors and Scotland star Ruaridh Jackson could be out for the season after suffering a serious knee injury during Wasps' Aviva Premiership victory over Northampton last Sunday.
