GORDON Reid today told his Glasgow Warriors team- mates to play their way into the Scotland side for the viagogo Autumn Tests.

Reid was one of 17 Warriors players selected for the 33-man national squad by coach Vern Cotter earlier this week.

The prop, who played three times for his country in the summer, was delighted so many of Gregor Townsend's charges were called up.

But he reckons they should focus fully on the Champions Cup game they have coming up with Montpellier in France on Saturday.

Because he thinks performing well in the European tie will boost their chances of playing against Argentina, New Zealand and Tonga next month.

"This is one of the best times that I can remember at Glasgow," the loosehead admitted as he looked back to the 37-10 win over Bath at Scotstoun on Saturday.

"We have been doing pretty well at the Warriors again this season. To be picked for the Scotland squad once again having played for them on the summer tour is an honour.

"But we have to take one thing at a time. Anyway, if you play well for your club you will be rewarded for that.

"We have to concentrate on playing as well as we can for Glasgow.

"We have another big game this weekend against Montpellier. That is our only focus at the moment. We can't think about Scotland at all.

"Montpellier are a big physical side and it will be hard for us to get a result over there.

"They are going to come at us through the forwards. They will be hard to break down. But we are going into the game with an open mind. In many respects, they are a similar team to Bath.

"They don't have any weaknesses. We will have to be at our best to get another win."

Reid made his debut for Scotland against the United States under new coach Cotter and then went on to play in the internationals against both Canada and Argentina on that tour.

However, the 27-year-old forward is not taking his involvement in the games at Murrayfield and Rugby Park next month for granted and hopes to build on the Bath display this weekend.

He said: "I would like to think I am in contention for a place, but there is so much competition.

"There is still time for other players to prove themselves as well. If I can stay injury-free then hopefully I can be involved.

"As I say, I am just going to focus on doing well for Glasgow and hopefully that will help my Scotland chances.

"If we can pick up results in our away games in Europe this season it will help our chances of making it through to the knockout stages so that is what we are concentrating on."
