TIM SWINSON has set Glasgow a double target for the final furlong of the PRO12 season.

The Warriors lock wants his side to use a home victory over Scarlets at Scotstoun on Saturday night as a springboard to claiming their second play-off spot in two years and in turn use that as the platform to a first-ever league title.

The mood around Scotstoun has been buoyed by the arrival of the fastest man in rugby, Carlin Isles on Monday, and Swinno believes the flying Yank can have a major impact down the final stretch of the last league furlong.

But first Warriors must negotiate the Welshmen who ruined Scotstoun's opening party some 19 months back and the second row was in no mood to underestimate the size of that task.

Swinson said: "We have two objectives for the remainder of the season and they are to make the top four and the play-offs and then go on from there and win the PRO12 league title. We know how tough that is going to be and that starts with Scarlets coming to Scotstoun tomorrow.

"But we have six of our final eight league games in the regulation season at home and when you are handed that type of advantage it is vital you make the most of it.

"Having said that the Scarlets seem to quite like Scotstoun, as they showed when they ruined our opening night here last season and we never get it easy against them. On top of that they have had the advantage over us of recent game time when they played Ulster last weekend.

"If anything the fact they lost that game has made them an even more dangerous proposition for us. So this is going to be about producing our best performance and making sure that we execute our game plan to perfection."

With Warriors' former openside John Barclay having bizarrely opted to head for the Parc Y Scarlets last summer the Welsh side will also benefit from inside information on Warriors.

But big Tim, who scored one of the tries that extended the Warriors' unbeaten start to the season to five games and ended the Welsh outfit's five-game run of victories against Scottish sides in the process, back in October, says that is not something he is losing any sleep over.

Swinson said: "Obviously John Barclay was a great player for Glasgow and he knows the club inside out. But he played in the first game and we coped well enough and got the win at their place.

"But everyone around Scotstoun is buzzing after Carlin Isles arrival and we are really up for this one. It is going to be vital that we make sure we win the battles in every part of the pitch."
