ANOTHER year, another campaign laden with success, pride and accomplishment for Glasgow Warriors.

While recording superb victories in the European Rugby Champions Cup over Bath and Montpellier, it has been an even greater success story than ever before domestically.

After securing the club's first home play-off semi last time out, Warriors repeated the feat again at the weekend while also finishing top of the Guinness PRO12 standings for the first time.

And with Ulster coming to town on Friday night to battle for a place in the grand final later this month, Glasgow head coach Gregor Townsend gives SportTimes the low-down on his six Warriors at the forefront of this surge - the nominees for the club's McCrea Financial Services Player of the Year award.

DTH VAN DER MERWE

Right across the board DTH has played very well after Christmas. He's unfortunately picked up an injury a few weeks ago but up until that point he has had some fantastic games.

He has been very professional and cares a lot about the club. He's been here a number of years and is driven as anyone to help the team achieve success.

DTH has been professional in his ability to help others prepare for games while trying to get over injury and he has had the rewards in terms of scoring tries and helping us win games.

NIKO MATAWALU

There is no doubting Niko will be a big miss for us when he leaves in the summer. It's been a privilege having him in Glasgow for three years.

He's played over 70 games and I think we will look back on these years with real fondness. He has put everything into the club and in return he has improved so much. Niko has attracted attention from the richest clubs in Europe and I'm sure he'll be a success at Bath.

He's been excellent this year and is looking as quick and strong as he ever has done for us. There have been some great games from him both on the wing and at scrum-half.

JONNY GRAY

Jonny has had another great year. He had an excellent breakthrough season last time and played consistently well to become a regular starter. He also broke into the Scotland team.

This year he has taken his game to another level both for us and his country. Jonny has developed as a leader and became captain for the first time against Connacht in this campaign. He is growing in respect from all of us and he is also learning how to influence games.

Jonny goes way beyond potential. He has delivered at such a young age. You forget this is only his second full season and he's just turned 21. He was the best tackler in the Six Nations from any team and he wants to improve.

TOMMY SEYMOUR

Tommy has been really consistent, I can't think of a game where he hasn't played well.

He has played a lot of games for us and for Scotland, but he has set a really high bar of playing well, week in and week out

Tommy has a great all-round game. He is also excellent in the air and is developing into a really smart line runner.

JOSH STRAUSS

Josh is similar to Niko in the amount of games he's played here over three years and has really become an excellent signing. He has a very good reputation with our supporters and the rest of the league.

He is such a strong ball carrier and he has also made a lot of changes to how he approaches and prepares for games. He has worked hard on the physical side of things, conditioning and his diet.

Josh is in fantastic shape and, when he plays well, the whole team gets a lift. It allows others to play and he has been inspirational on the 13 occasions he's captained the team this season.

PETER HORNE

Peter has bounced back really well. Last year he missed most of it with a bad knee injury after being Player of the Year a couple of seasons ago.

It's great to see him back in the form he was in a couple of years ago. He was great for us during the Six Nations in which time he also played for Scotland.

He took a bit of flak for missing a penalty kick to touch [against Italy] even though he played really well, but he bounced back with us the following week.

Peter has played some fantastic games for us over the last two months and was rightly voted Player of the Month for April.

Having been nominated by the Warriors' coaching team, a winner will be picked by the club's supporters and announced at tonight's awards dinner at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Glasgow.
