PETER MURCHIE has become unaccustomed to losing hangovers in the last few months.

It's an experience the Glasgow full-back is keen not to go through again this weekend as he looks to toast a return to winning ways.

Murchie was part of the Warriors side that went down 19-9 away to Scarlets last Friday night for only their second loss in 10 games all season.

He confesses the display was lacking in the effort Gregor Townsend's side have prided themselves on putting in, and it's something he is determined to correct this Sunday when Newport Gwent Dragons come to Scotstoun.

"None of us enjoy losing. Winning is a habit and it's something we've become good at," said Murchie.

"I was hurting over the weekend, I'm sure everyone else was the same. But that's important you don't just gloss over it, a defeat has to mean something.

"But you have to move on quickly. If you let a defeat drag on into the week it can impact on your preparation for the next game. We've been working hard out on the training pitch to rectify it and I'm very confident we will bounce back."

The team which trotted out the dressing room in Llanelli last week may very well be different to the one which strides purposefully out on to the pitch at Scotstoun this Sunday.

Eleven Warriors were lining up for Scotland at the weekend while those left behind struggled, and Murchie recognises that Townsend is likely to make changes in order to get his team back on an even keel.

But the 28-year-old insists if anyone is left in the starting XV from Friday, they must do all they can to put things right. He said: "We didn't play well enough on the night. There are several reasons for that which we've taken a look at.

"There are probably a few of us who won't get an opportunity this weekend. When you don't play as well as you want to you put the decision in the coach's hands. Gregor might make a few changes.

"If you do get another shot it's a massive chance. You would be desperate to right the wrongs and get a win.

"Dragons have class players including some British Lions. They can beat anyone on their day so we'll need to be right on them, play at a high level and be really intense."
