GLASGOW WARRIORS fashioned a famous victory in Montpellier on Saturday night.

And head coach Gregor Townsend can't wait to renew their French connection and BEAT cracks Toulouse.

The Scotstoun club continued their stunning start to the European Champions Cup with a 15-13 victory in the Altrad Stadium thanks to some precision penalties from Finn Russell.

That result came on the back of an astonishing opening 37-10 bonus point triumph against Bath the previous week to leave Warriors top of Pool D on nine points.

Townsend believes the experience of doing what is necessary against Montpellier will have his side ready to tackle the might of Toulouse when they return in early December.

He said: "Toulouse have won two out of two as well and what a team they are. They have the biggest budget in world rugby with the best record in Europe in terms of winning titles so we can't wait.

"We knew it would be great learning for our guys - whether we won or lost - and we've got some great young players in our squad such as Jonny Gray, Finn Russell and Mark Bennett, so for them to play in France they will be better players for the experience.

"To have won is even better because they know what is required and the decisions we have to make to win games and we can't wait to go back to France in six weeks."

As Townsend's team bask in their European glory, focus now turns back to domestic matters as they seek to continue an equally impressive start to the Guinness Pro12 campaign.

Treviso visit Scotstoun on Friday three weeks after they were beaten 23-40 in Italy by Glasgow, and Townsend knows the tough test his side will face as they try to consolidate and build on their current second-placed standing.

He told Glasgow Warriors.org: "It's a massive game on Friday. It'll be our seventh league game of the season so a third of the season will be complete going into the international break.

"Treviso gave us a few problems out in Italy and we know we'll need to play much better than we did out there.

"We've got 20 players away for the first part of the week at training camps with Scotland and Fiji, but we have strong depth to our squad and that is really pleasing."

One of the players away on international duty is Peter Horne, who has been called up to Vern Cotter's Scotland squad as precautionary cover along with Edinburgh's Sam Hidalgo-Clyne.
