SEAN MAITLAND says Glasgow must deliver an 80-minute performance against Munster on Saturday, or risk enduring another night of torment at Thomond Park.

The Scotland star returned to the Warriors' starting line-up with a scintillating try against Treviso last week, as Glasgow claimed their first bonus point of the Pro12 season en route to their third win on the bounce.

But the British Lion has warned his team-mates that they will need to lift their game again if they are to record a first victory at Munster since May 2008.

Maitland said: "If we are going to get the win we need, then we will have to produce a complete 80-minute performance. We had some great spells in the game with Treviso but we also had some troughs when we switched off and errors crept in.

"Some of the rugby we played in the opening few minutes, with the two early tries, was among the best we have produced this season but in other respects we were a bit inconsistent. The one thing you can't do with Munster is give them anything for free.

"They showed against Toulouse in the Heineken Cup quarter-final just what they can do to any side in Europe if they are given any encouragement. So we know that we have got to be very streetwise in how we play our rugby.

"You can't afford to make any basic errors, because Munster really make you pay for them."

Maitland admits the taming of Treviso has whet his appetite for a spot of Munster munch.

The Warriors winger said; "It was great to get my first start under the belt after the injury. It was very frustrating to have my Six Nations campaign ended in the first game with Ireland.

"Mentally you build yourself up for the Six Nations and for me, this year, it was almost over before it had begun. But the flip side of that is I am back fresh and hungry to play as big a part as I can in the run-in for Glasgow."

With Glasgow having tasted victory just twice in their last 11 meetings with the men from Limerick, Maitland has no doubt about the boost an away day win would produce.

The 25-year-old said: "We know our record is not the best against Munster. But records never last forever. It is vital we execute our game plan to the best of our ability and the battle in the loose is going to be ferocious all right.

"We have hit form at exactly the right time and, after moving into fourth and still having a game in hand over both Ulster in third and Munster in second - and playing both these sides in the next two games - the season has really reached its business end for us."
