The teams meet in the quarter-finals of the Scottish Cup and Samson, who has never been further than this stage in the tournament, is geared up for a battle as he fights to take Danny Lennon's side all the way to Hampden.
"I think a run in the cup really galvanises everyone," he said. "It isn't just a club that benefits from it, but in the case of a team like St Mirren, the whole town benefits.
"This is the furthest I have ever been and I'd love to go one better.
"I've been at Scotland games at Hampden, but I have never performed there as a player and it would be great to achieve that with St Mirren.
"My mate David Bagan won the Scottish Cup when he was at Kilmarnock in 1997 and he is never shy at reminding me of it.
"It would be nice to get a medal to rival his and have something of my own to brag about."
While Samson would relish the chance to go on a cup run, he is well aware that St Mirren will meet a Hearts side riding high from their victory at Ibrox last weekend.
The fact that the game is at Tynecastle, and not in Paisley, will make the task facing Lennon's side ever harder, but the keeper has insisted that they will go into the game full of confidence.
Saints were held to their third successive draw, against Hibs, last week, but the fact that this game provides some respite from the demands of the league is something Samson believes can bring out the best in the his team.
"I think there is always a different feeling to cup games," he said. "Tynecastle is a difficult venue for any team to go to and get a result and we would have preferred it had the game been in Paisley, but we're determined to go there and get the result."
He added: "It was a great result for Hearts to beat Rangers and although Rangers are really struggling at the minute, from what I heard, Hearts played really well.
"We know that they are dangerous, but we feel up for it. These are the games that you want to be involved in at this stage of the season."
A ten-man Hearts side beat St Mirren 5-2 at Tynecastle in January and this would be the perfect afternoon for Saints to exact their revenge for that one.
"We won't be thinking about anything other than going there and concentrating on the game," said Samson. "This is a one-off game and we want to give it our best shot.
"This is a chance for us to get to the semi-final of the Scottish Cup and it is an absolutely massive afternoon for us.
"This is one of the biggest games of our season and we want to give it everything. We know we will need to take our chances and keep it tight at the back, but it is going to be an exciting day and we are all really looking forward to it."
