Second-half turnaround for 5-star Ton

The Cappielow gaffer reckoned his side were fortunate to go in at the interval on level terms after Kevin Byers and Stevie Crawford missed chances for the home team.

But in a dramatic turnaround, David O'Brien, Peter Weatherson, Peter MacDonald (2) and substitute Archie Campbell struck to ensure a place in tomorrow's Ramsdens Cup quarter-final draw.

Moore said: "We could have been a goal or two down, and we kept giving the ball away. But we have goals in this side and I'm delighted to get five away from home."

Morton have now scored 16 goals in three cup ties – all away from home.

Dumbarton manager Alan Adamson saw his side go down 2-0 to Berwick, which David Greenhill and Lee Currie netting after the interval.

Adamson said: "We just didn't turn up in the second half, which was disappointing, especially on top of last Saturday's loss."

Former Morton defender Brian Reid heaped praise on his young Ayr United side after they beat Raith Rovers 3-0 at Cappielow – the game having been switched because new floodlights are being installed at Somerset Park.

He said: "We had five players under 21, while Raith fielded a full side. We defended well and the experienced players helped the youngsters.

"It was a happy return to Cappielow. The pitch is immaculate."

Roddy Paterson, James McKiernan and Ross Robertson were on target for the Honest Men."
