BILLY REID hopes winning becomes a habit for his Hamilton Accies after their 1-0 triumph over Morton on Saturday.

On-loan St Johnstone striker Stevie May netted the only goal of the game at Cappielow to give Billy Reid's side only their second victory of the campaign.

The success keeps them above Dumbarton at the foot of the Irn-Bru First Division.

Reid was delighted to see his young stars sample that winning feeling.

He said: "It is huge for these young players to win games.

"They are learning their trade and the only way you do that is by winning.

"I am over the moon, not just for the club and myself, but for the players."

While it was an afternoon to savour for Accies, defeat saw Morton fall seven points adrift of Partick Thistle in the race for promotion. Morton will now turn their attentions to their William Hill Scottish Cup replay with Second Division Albion Rovers tomorrow night.

Cappielow boss Allan Moore reckons rookie ref Paul Robertson was wrong not to flash two red cards on Saturday, but admits it was a lack of cutting edge from his side that cost them dear.

Moore said: "There were some tough challenges, the one with Martin Canning on Archie Campbell should have had him sent off.

"And Archie kicking out at one of their players later. Both were lucky still to be on the pitch.

"The young referee was a last-minute replacement and he should have stamped his authority on the game.

"Accies had one shot on goal and scored, then parked it.

"But it is up to us to break them down."
