TONY QUINN hopes to lead Queen's Park to promotion glory after being handed the Spiders' armband for the new season.
Gardner Speirs's side kick off their campaign with a Ramsdens Cup clash against Ayr United this weekend, with the countdown continuing to the start of the SPFL Division Two and their curtain-raiser with East Stirlingshire.
The Hampden side missed out on promotion from the Third Division last time out – losing to Peterhead in the play-offs. But they have regrouped during the close season and are set for another top-four push.
Boss Speirs has had to wheel and deal in the transfer market this summer after losing a number of his stars – including Andy Robertson and Aidan Connolly to Dundee United and Lawrence Shankland who has joined Aberdeen.
But skipper Quinn is confident Queen's are shaping up well.
He said: "To be the captain of this club is a great honour and hopefully we can have a good season.
"In the last couple of years, I have tried to work hard before the pre-season starts. It is a worry when you get a bit older but the enthusiasm is still there.
"A lot of the boys ask me how I can still do it at 31 but I have got a couple of years left in me – and hopefully a couple of years as captain.
"We lost players at the end of the season and a few boys were worried but the gaffer knows his stuff and the squad is coming together.
