JIM DUFFY hopes Clyde can rise to the occasion against Falkirk in the Ramsdens Cup tomorrow.

The Bully Wee will also face Gary Holt's side in the first round of the League Cup and can look to head into next weekend's Westfield clash after a Broadwood victory on Saturday.

Duffy has been pleased with how his side have shaped in pre-season but knows it is a step up in class when they face the SPFL Championship promotion hopefuls.

He said: "The competitive games always come up quickly.

"When you start pre-season you think it will take its time but it always seems to accelerate and you never seem quite ready.

"Falkirk will be a real test this weekend so we will see how we do.

"The attitude of the boys has been terrific. That is all you can do, ask them to be fit and give their all."

With their SPFL League Two opener against Berwick Rangers just two weeks away, the Bairns double header gives Duffy the chance to see his side in competitive action.

The Bully Wee boss said: "We signed Brian McQueen and Michael Daly on pre-contracts and we have brought in Ryan Frances from Vale of Clyde.

"He is the only other player we have managed to bring in and we will work with some of the younger players from our Under-19s and use them when we need to.

"Our finances are stretched and unless something changes, we won't be in a position to bring anyone else in."
