The Buddies youngster was due to appear for Gardner Speirs' side on Saturday against Elgin, but the postponement of the Irn-Bru Third Division clash deprived him of a QP farewell.

McGinn moved to St Mirren Park in the summer after attracting interest from a number of clubs following a superb season with the Spiders last season.

Hampden boss Speirs said: "I'd like to thank him for his efforts during his loan spell and I'm sure everybody at Hampden will join me in wishing him every success in his future career."

Elsewhere in the Third Division, Clyde defender David Marsh faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines after tearing his abductor muscle.

The defender joined the Bully Wee from Junior side Cumbernauld United in the summer and has impressed for Jim Duffy's side this term.

He has now been advised to rest in a bid to cure his muscle problem and Broadwood boss Duffy admits the 22-year-old will be a significant loss to his side as he struggles for defensive options.

He said: "David saw a specialist last week.

"As we feared, he has been diagnosed with an abductor tear and been advised to rest.

"David has been struggling with this injury for a while, but he has done well for the team.

"We need to listen to the advice and that means complete rest before starting treatment, so we can't target any return date at the moment.

"It is a blow as our options are limited in defence, but he needs to get this sorted."
