Ross wants Sons job, but focus is on Airdrie

JACK ROSS wants to become Dumbarton boss on a permanent basis – but he won't throw his hat into the ring until after this weekend's clash with fellow strugglers Airdrie United.

He is in interim charge after Alan Adamson parted company with Sons on Monday. Ross, who was made assistant boss a year ago, said: "I would like the opportunity to become the manager, however my application can wait until next week.

"Beating Airdrie could bring our season alive and that is taking all my attention at the moment and therefore I will discuss the manager's position once this game is out of the way.

"Becoming a manager is the next step in my career and I have to consider it, but only after Saturday is out of the way."
