HAMILTON ACCIES' Irn-Bru First Division fixture with Livingston tonight has been postponed after heavy overnight snow left the Almondvale pitch unplayable.

Livi saw their First Division clash against Falkirk on Saturday also fall foul of the weather and there were doubts over whether the Accies fixture could go ahead even before the big freeze returned.

Several inches of snow overnight in West Lothian has given the game no chance of going ahead, with the match being called off first thing this morning.

To avoid a clash with Scotland's World Cup Qualifier with Serbia next Tuesday night, the Almondvale fixture has been rescheduled for Wednesday, March 27, with a 7.45pm kick off.

The postponement means Billy Reid's side will have to wait until Saturday to bounce back from their defeat to First Division title challengers Partick Thistle at New Douglas Park, with a trip to Falkirk this weekend next on the agenda for Accies as they look to haul themselves up the standings.

Defeat to the Jags left Reid's side eighth in the table, but they still have a game in hand over fellow strugglers Cowdenbeath and a five-point advantage over ninth placed Dumbarton ahead of the end of season run-in.

With Lanarkshire rivals Airdrie United seemingly doomed and set to be relegated this season, the race is on to avoid finishing ninth and having to take part in the play-offs to ensure their place in the First Division next season.
