Ton boss pleased as title race narrows

ALLAN MOORE reckons the Irn-Bru First Division is a three horse race after Morton beat Livingston 2-1 to stay top of the table.

Despite Iain Russell cancelling out Martin Hardie's opener, Peter MacDonald netted the winner for the Ton as they maintained their five-point lead over second-placed Partick Thistle.

Cappielow boss Moore said: "It wasn't a game of that many chances for either team, but it is another three points on the board and it has probably put Livingston out of our reach to be honest.

"I would like to think we would not lose 15 points between now and the end of the season – I would be disappointed.

"It was a big three points for us. We have not had a great home record this season while we have the best in Britain for away games with no defeats.

"If we keep getting the rub of the green we can keep in there."

He added: "I thought Iain Russell sclaffed his shot and that is what caught out Derek Gaston.

"The mis-kick could have thrown him. I will need to see it again but I thought he was pretty slow to react.

"But no matter, we have the three points and that is the statistic that counts.

"You can have all the possession you want, but it's goals that count at the end of the day."
