Dumbarton shot- stopper Jamie Ewings believes his club can finally kick-start their domestic campaign after clinching a first league win of the season against Cowdenbeath.
Despite watching Bryan Prunty miss from the spot, interim manager Jack Ross saw the Sons run out 1-0 winners at Central Park thanks to a 16-yard drive from Mark Gilhaney.
Ross' side remain behind Hamilton Accies at the foot of the table, but Ewings hopes victory in Fife will boost their bid for survival.
He said: "We defended well and we were professional enough to grind it out.
"That's the monkey off our backs and we can now focus on our aim, which is to stay in this Division.
"We have been unlucky not to win in previous games this season so it is a relief to get the three points."
