DUMBARTON boss Stevie Aitken has continued his summer shopping spree with the capture of Darren Barr and Gordon Smith ahead of the new Championship campaign.

The former Hearts pair clinched deals at the Rock over the weekend as Aitken put his squad through their paces for the first time this summer.

Midfielder Willie Gibson has also now signed on the dotted line while Garry Fleming has agreed an extension to his Sons contract.

It has been a productive few weeks for boss Aitken as he has steadily assembled his squad since replacing Ian Murray following his switch to St Mirren last month.

Striker Smith is the latest new arrival at the Rock and Aitken is pleased to have him on board after he left Stirling Albion at the end of the season.

He said: "Gordon is a good player and will be an excellent addition for us.

"He scored 10 goals in 42 appearances for the Binos last season and I'm confident he can step up for us."
