STUART CARSWELL is eager to prove his worth to St Mirren after signing a deal with the Paisley club.

The midfielder was allowed to leave Motherwell during the summer after coming through the Fir Park ranks and has now put pen to paper on a one-year contract at the Buddies.

Having broken through into the Well first team at the age of 17, Carswell went on to play 96 times for the Steelmen, including in the Europa League against La Liga outfit Levante.

He said: “I am delighted to have signed for St Mirren this morning and I’m looking forward to a new challenge and getting the club back up where it belongs.

“I came out to the training ground last week and was very impressed with Ian Murray and the facilities there. I can’t get wait to get started and will join in with pre season training this afternoon with the other boys.”
