QUEEN’S PARK have appointed former Rangers Academy Director Jimmy Sinclair to head their youth development department.

The 57-year-old left his role at Murray Park last season and replaces David McCallum after he stepped down to take up a position with the Scottish Football Association.

Sinclair spent several years at Rangers overseeing the development of players at Auchenhowie and is now eager to help Spiders stars of the future shine at Hampden.

He said: “I am delighted to be back where my career in football started. For nearly 150 years Queen’s Park have had a proud record of producing players and I am looking forward to carrying that on.

“The club has had a number of players who have made very high profile moves in very recent times and it is exciting to be given the opportunity to keep talent blossoming in the traditions of Queen’s Park.”

Sinclair’s move to Hampden sees him return to the club where he started his playing career four decades ago.

He spent five years on the Spiders’ books over two spells and also turned out for Clyde and Hamilton Accies.

Sinclair is another experienced coach on the Hampden staff and General Manager Christine Wright is delighted to have the former SFA Technical Director on board.

She said: “We had a high number of quality applicants and delighted that Jimmy has accepted the position as our Head of Youth.

“With Gus MacPherson in charge of first team affairs and Jimmy in charge of our youth programme the club has a very strong management team in place.”
