Captain Mark Connolly is desperate to see Kilmarnock's name come off the bottom of the Ladbrokes Premiership table.

After defeats to Dundee and Aberdeen, the Rugby Park outfit fought back against Celtic at home and Partick Thistle away to draw 2-2 in both games.

However, two points from 12 sees them propping up the league, albeit below Inverness and St Johnstone on goal difference.

Ahead of the visit of Ross County on Saturday, the 23-year-old defender admitted his desire to see Killie start moving away from the bottom.

"Regardless if you are there due to goal difference or whatever it may be, it is not nice to see," he said.

"But it is only four games in and we haven't had an easy start.

"I think we should have won at Partick but hopefully we can have a run of games now and get a few results.

"Ross County are going to be a good team this season but if we concentrate on ourselves, we can get results.

"The fans deserve a win and deserve to go home happy.

"We sent them home happy against Celtic but a win is the object and hopefully we can get our first three points."

The former Republic of Ireland Under-21 player admits the 4-0 home defeat by Dundee on the opening day of the season came as a shock the system.

"It wasn't what we were expecting but maybe it was a kick up the backside to get ourselves going again," he said.

"No one expected that but we have to hold our hands up, we weren't good enough and everyone in the dressing room knows that and the manager knows that.

"In any line of work, if you have a bad day on the first day you are thinking 'this is going to be a long year', or whatever.

"But it shows the character in the dressing room that we have come back.

"The Celtic result was a massive result for us.

"To come back twice against the champions showed the character in the dressing room and the confidence has went from low, back to where it should be.

"The players know we are a good team. We just need to push on now."
