Hearts striker Osman Sow insists the Tynecastle side are only now starting to get into their stride despite winning their first five games of the season.

The Swede notched his third goal of the campaign as Hearts brushed aside Partick Thistle in a 3-0 victory on Saturday, a result that keeps Robbie Neilson's side two points clear of Celtic at the Premiership summit.

But after stepping up from the Championship last term and welcoming a host of new arrivals during the summer, Sow insists Hearts are still getting to grips with the top-flight.

He said: "The Premiership is a little more intense than the Championship, all of the games are a little more competitive.

"We have handled the step up so far but that's why I say we need to keep our focus.

"I feel we are getting better. If you look at our performances from the first game through to this one we have improved and hopefully we can keep on doing that.

"We had a lot of new players at the start of the season but now everything is starting to fall into place."

The debate over whether Hearts can challenge Celtic for the title is set to continue following this result but Sow insists he will not believe the hype unless they are still in contention during the closing months of the campaign.

He added: "If people are still saying that in March and April then I will start believing it. But it's too early just now.

"Confidence is good. We are working hard every day and things are going our way.

"It's good at the moment but you never know - if you lose focus everything can change in a minute.

"So we need to focus every day on trying to keep going.

"There is no complacency here. The season is very long and we are just at the beginning.

"So we just need to make the best of every day and see how far it goes."
