IAN MURRAY has warned St Mirren’s supporters that they could be in for a dramatic transfer deadline day when the window slams shut next week.

The Buddies have been active over the summer as they tackle the Ladbrokes Championship, with them adding Aberdeen forward Lawrence Shankland on loan earlier this week.

The Paisley club show no signs that they are finished yet ahead of Tuesday’s deadline.

And Murray has hinted that he anticipates a frantic finish to the window when players around other clubs find themselves looking for somewhere new to play their football.

He said: "We need experienced guys in.

"There are positives and negatives with that. On the negative, the older they are then they take longer to recover and on the positive you get the experience.

"I hope Lawrence is not the last of my signings. We still have about a week to go in terms of getting guys in.

"But we just need to be careful. There will be a lot of names come Sunday and Monday with players, perhaps, thinking they are going to play for their team suddenly find they are not and want to move on.

"And there will be guys who have been scrambling about for clubs who probably wouldn't be interested in coming to certain clubs eight weeks ago, but now realise that the reality is there is nothing else out there.

"So I imagine all teams will have plenty of movement in the next four or five days."

On the arrival of Shankland ahead of this weekend’s league meeting with Livingston, he added: "We have been after him for a few weeks but these things take time and obviously Aberdeen had European games and stuff like that and will look after their own squad first. But we got there in the end anyway.

"Lawrence was very enthusiastic to come here and there were a few other clubs interested as well. But once we knew we had him it was just a waiting game.

"He has done it all the way through now our hope is he continues to do that all the way through for another season and up a level again by playing week in , week out here. And if he can add goals to our game as well as his link up play then great."
