It’s so vital that the Partick Thistle fans continue to back us with their great support today in what is a massive game at Firhill.

We have a wonderful set of supporters - home and away - and any player will tell you that when they get that support it gives them a big boost.

The fans will be as frustrated as us by our start to the season, but I’m sure they will stick with us and I’m sure they will be there in numbers to get behind the boys today. It’s crucial, they’re very important to us.

I think the fans can see that we’ve been playing good football and that we’ve got the right attitude, and I hope we’ll be able to repay them today.

There’s no denying it’s a big game for both clubs. Our boys have been in good spirits which always helps.

Even in the last few years if we’ve went through a bad run, they always keep the morale high and they all want to do well which makes our job a lot easier. Hopefully on Saturday we can get that first win and get that monkey off our back.

They played some decent stuff against Motherwell and probably dominated the majority of the game. There were a lot of positives to take from that performance and hopefully our luck will change.

We try to play the right way and I’m sure it will click for us soon.

It’s frustrating for us and for the players as well because I think you can take getting beat when you’re not playing well, you can understand that, but we’re actually playing to a decent level.

The players have just got to keep going and keep believing in themselves, and I’m sure it will turn.

We’ve got every faith in the players and they’ve got faith in themselves.

Dundee United have changed their manager which adds that extra bit of tension to the game. Sometimes players will go out and put a bit more into it as some of them will feel a bit aggrieved at what’s happened.

A lot of fingers are being pointed at the players with interim manager Dave Bowman saying yesterday that it was the players that got Jackie McNamara sacked, so they’ll be wanting to come out and put a few things right.

We’re well aware of that, and the boys know what to expect.

Both teams will probably be slightly nervous, and what we don’t want is a wee gap to open up between ourselves and United.

There’s pressure on us at the bottom of the league but this is our profession, and you’ve got be able to handle that pressure.

It’s important to get that first goal, I think that helps massively. It gives you something to build from and something to hold on to as well. If you get that goal, especially at home, then the fans will sense we can get a result and get right behind the team as well.

I know for a fact that Dundee United will be coming down here and they will be thinking that they can pull away from us with a win, so we know what’s at stake, the players know it as well, and they’ve now got to go and do the business when they cross that white line.
