Clyde manager Barry Ferguson says that his side can continue their quest to get back on track against Montrose at Broadwood today.

Ferguson and his players came under fire after exiting the Scottish Cup to Formartine United at the second round stage.

Despite questions being raised over Ferguson’s future as manager of the Bully Wee, his side steadied the ship with a point against Queen’s Park last week.

Today’s opponents sustained their own humiliating cup exit on Tuesday night to Lothian Thistle Hutchinson Vale, but Ferguson is wary of a reaction from Paul Hegarty’s Gable Endies.

He is sure though that his side can get a much-needed victory if they can put his game-plan into practice for an entire 90 minutes.

"We were good in the first half at Hampden but not so good in the second half," he told the club’s website.

"It was a start though and we showed some good signs. We've had a good week and worked through some more things. At the moment it's about getting back to basics and we'll get there.

"Paul Hegarty has got Montrose playing well and you'll always get a hard game against one of Paul's teams. They've been going well in the league so I won't take anything from their cup result, we know it's going to be a tough one."

Meanwhile, long-term absentee Scott Durie has revealed that he is hoping to return to the starting eleven soon after recovering from a double-hernia.

"It has been very frustrating because I had the injury at the end of last season and wanted to sort it over the summer, but given the position the club is in I had to wait for the NHS like everybody else,” he said.

“Then, just as I thought I was about to get my operation, it got delayed for another five weeks which was frustrating as it felt like it was just one thing after another, but hopefully that is it all sorted now.

"I'm back in full training and I also played with the under-20s over the last two weeks; every bit of game time helps my recovery. Hopefully I can be back in contention to start over the next few weeks.”
